History

L & L Builders Co. was founded in 1960 by Larry Book and his brother Lonny, growing initially from a masonry contracting business to a general contractor and construction manager. Over the course of 65 years, the firm established a strong reputation in and around Sioux City as a reliable contractor with a high standard of quality and professionalism.

In 2025, the firm was acquired by Story Construction Co. and continues to serve the Siouxland region as L & L Builders with the same dedicated team of builders.

Safety

The nature of our business requires that each of us is cognizant of safety, for ourselves and others. At L & L Builders, we’re not just co-workers, but a secondary family, and we want all our people to go home in the same condition they arrived.

Communication

As a team, we count on one another to over-communicate internally in order to be successful. This internal transparency and the sharing of information is a key factor in helping our external customers to be successful.

Respect

People showing respect to one another is a critical factor in any healthy relationship. We should always start with self-respect and dignity. When we respect ourselves, it’s only natural to extend that same respect to others. Respect can be summed up by the Golden Rule – treat others how you would like to be treated.

Maintaining our integrity is something we pride ourselves in here at L & L Builders. We always want to do the right thing by our customers and co-workers. Being honest and transparent to both ourselves and others is the core of who we are. It’s how we have kept a strong reputation within our community since 1960.
